Nothing too exciting. It's like most other cities, tourists like us bustling through to enjoy the sights and the locals carving out routine. The blood trade is the most interesting part--and the technology, but--are you an earth human?
[ side-eye inspecting dion. nodd will never remember to check profiles, he'll just ask. ]
[ orders wines because he's french and hopes that it isn't blood ]
Valisthea? It is... well. A land of diminishing resources, constant struggle, and resilient people. [ he shakes his head ] It is currently undergoing difficult, but unnecessary change, but beyond the strife, it is a beautiful place.
[ me like finding a way for dion not to say he's a prince ]
... Now? I suppose I'm primarily part of a rebel group. Part of that necessary change. [ sry i wrong unnecessary in my previous tag ] And you? What is your home like?
[ a rebel... and yet he's about as bad boy as a boy named mandi... ]
Janth is under going a period of change as well.
[ dion will never see it, surely. can't hurt to be honest. ]
There's a good chance someone is trying to open a permanent rift between the living and the undead--we had a Black Sun Eclipse. Lots of shit going absolutely sideways. If anyone can take care of it, I believe in the companions I left behind. They're smart, powerful even. Only thing they lack is experience.
We're figuring that out--we were figuring that out. Seems as it might have been related to a deity our pantheon failed to recruit. I suppose it doesn't matter too much now. Not for another couple months.
[ nodd can't obsess over what he left behind. down that road lies unsexy madness. ]
It is a surprise to me also, but there has been rapid change in Valisthea lately that has necessitated the unexpected. [ ... ] Though I wonder what about me precludes me from being rebellious.
It's your--look at you. All straight-backed and proper. I figured you would send a strongly worded letter, maybe. But I don't know you well, yet. It was a guess.
[ chipper enough. will trash you later for being royalty. ]

Very well. I take it you're rather partial to drinking if you've visited already.

smooth as silk no idea what you're talking about. ]
I like it. You can tell a lot about a locale by its bars. The fashion, the social life, the literal taste.

What have you learned so far?

Do you have humans where you are from?
no subject
I'm half. Half-human, like you, and half-elf. Where I'm from, it'd be obvious. It's been funny, explaining it.
no subject
What is it that makes it so apparent?
no subject
[ at the bitter bite, which is packed and a club, yes, but also has a few tables patrons can get cozy at.]
I asked because most of the earth humans seem used to all this technology. The "scifi."
[
nodd doesn't actually know that stands for science fiction.]no subject
they can both not know what it means together ]
Hm, now that I think on it, you are right. [ thonk ] It is largely unfamiliar to me, however. Valisthea relies more on magic than science.
[ anyway, goes to the bar to get a little drinky ]

Janth is the same.
[ orders this planet's version of a pina colada, mostly for the tiny umbrella garnish. ]
Tell me about Valisthea. I'm curious.

Were you a traveller? Or did you have a homestead?

... The undead? For what purpose?

Well, I suppose the logic is secondary to the harm is causes. It seems you'll be returning to a trial most dangerous, Sir Nodd.

That is not entirely unsound logic. Better than agonizing over what you cannot change, I suppose.

[ guess he'll become a space elf. ]
I am where I am.
[ lightly kicks dion's foot. ]
A rebel, though. I didn't see that coming. Aren't you full of surprises?

I'm sorry! Perish the thought!

I will accept an apology by way of another drink.
