that said, i rolled a 19 so dion is doing pretty well in their little sparring session. even if he doesn't necessarily enjoy combat, he's disciplined enough to keep up his training and practice, quick and precise, with a fast recovery whenever a blow staggers him.

had to find out if nodd embarrassed himself or not, so rolled right after receiving tag and got an 18. this is a really solid match. by the end, nodd is actually sweating, smiling like a bit of a lunatic, clearly having fun.
because the dice gods granted dion 1 more, that final lance swing catches nodd's ankle before he can do another of his annoying effective hops right over it. he lands on his ass, falls onto his back, and drops his arms to the ground, palms up. he yields. ]
[ these rolls are so good. dion generally doesn't really care for sparring, after many years of the monotony of training his body. but occasionally, he's pushed enough that the exertion of it burns his blood a little hotter to the point that he actually feels excitement.
nodd finally falls, and dion digs his lance into the centre of his chest to keep him down, hair out of place, and sweating as he leans over nodd.
he's smiling, and throughout the course of the fight his appearance has changed slightly, usually brown eyes a bright gold and pupils slit. white scales shimmer over his the scant exposed skin of his neck and jaw, while two dragon-like horns extend out from his hair.
it fades as the fervour of the fight fades, and he shifts his stance back, lifting his lance and holding out a hand to help nodd up. ]
Well fought. That was more enjoyable than I expected.
[ if directly asked after chugging a truth serum, perhaps nodd will admit he was distracted at the end by dion's physical shifts. the scales and horns and the dazzling sparkles. the whole dion package bearing down on him, weapon in hand.

he pants on the ground, reeling as the lance prods dead center in his chest. nodd's pupils have all but fully consumed his irises.
a hand over his face instead of taking dion's. his eyelashes flutter between his spread fingers. ]
[ he isn't at all fazed by the answer or nodd's reluctance to take his hand, so he just leans down to take one in hand on his own so that he can pull nodd up.
the floor is no place to rest. ]
I'm rather parched myself. Unfortunately, I don't believe there is a fountain in this space.
[ there are towels though, of which dion will take one to wipe his face and neck. ]
