It is possible to communicate without words, you know. It's how I talk to Roboji and get him to respond to me. But I guess you'd know better on this one.
Roboji's been programmed to pick up on different sounds, cues and emotional feedback. Basically being able to read a mood. It's taken a ton of finetuning, and I'm still working on him to get everything right, but he's capable of following directions and independently thinking based on the environment he's in.
Everybody. He's not a mindreader of anything, but he can sense things like changes in temperature or blood pressure and things like that. Biological signs of a person's mood. But I've also programmed him so he's capable of mimicking and knowing when to throw out appropriate responses to different stimuli. It'd be pretty bad if somebody was upset and his reaction was to throw something at them or something instead of trying to offer assistance.
It's still a work in progress though. I'm teaching myself how to expand him.
It doesn't exactly work that way. [ sometimes your robot just does things. ] But it's more like...he doesn't always have to respond. You don't always respond when you see a stressed out person or anything, do you?
It's sort of the same as like when a person blinks. It happens, but you don't always register it.
[ sometimes your robot is wandering around after you independently. sometimes it joins a really weird and catchy dance number. the wonders of technology. ]
At least you're self-aware that way. [ that's a compliment, somehow. ] If you're that worried, don't be. There's a reason I don't bring him to trials anymore.
You and probably everyone else on this ship, too. None of us agreed to be doing this but here we are. Doing this repeatedly week after week. And we're still no closer to figuring out how to make it stop.
We still have time. And we still have a lot of smart people on both sides of the living-dead veil. You included. We know so much more than when we started. We just keep digging.
So long as we can convince other people to keep working and not give up because we don't have all of the answers yet, we might actually get everything figured out. But everything's in pieces right now. That's the frustrating part for everybody.

Have you tried asking him? Maybe he has an opinion on it.

I know he likes the bjorn. Not sure if he's cold. Communication isn't the li'l guy's strong point. It's why we get along.

What if someone doesn't want him reading their blood temperature? Can they say 'Roboji no blood reading?'

[ what a question ]
Yeaaaaah. I guess not. But I also don't go scanning their innards for emotion data.

Do you think it'd make a difference?

I guess not for me, personally, no.
